ABOUT

Who I Am

My name is Gavin Rogers. My family has had roots here in Farmingdale since my great-grandmother arrived in the early 1950s. My grandpa graduated from Farmingdale High School in 1965 and my parents graduated in 1989 and 1990. I graduated during the covid pandemic in 2020 and my sister recently graduated in 2023.

Since I was young I've participated in many of our district and community programs. I joined Cub Scouts while I was attending Saltzman East Memorial, and bridged over to Troop 601 when I was ten. Although it was difficult during the pandemic, I was able to complete my Eagle Scout Project with the Town of Babylon at Michel Park in East Farmingdale. I completed my project by building and installing two wood benches from scratch as well as erecting a new flag pole with a solar light to display our country's flag. I dedicated my project to our veterans on Veteran's Day in 2020. Since then I have become an Assistant Scoutmaster and act as a scout-adult liaison.

Throughout the years I was also engaged in both sports and music. I played soccer with the Farmingdale Soccer Club and joined both the Cross Country and Track teams when I entered Howitt. I also joined the Winter Track team during High School, of which I eventually became a captain. During this time I was also part of both the Middle School and High School band programs. I was in both schools' Wind Ensembles on the Drum Line and a percussionist during concert season.

After high school, I attended St John's University where I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Government and Politics. I was able to complete my degree by the end of 2022 due to the support I received in Farmingdale through our district's dual enrollment programs.

Since then I have been working at the Town of Babylon as a Community Service Aide. Beginning in the Supervisor's Office, I assisted in the development of the Direct Support Program through the Covid Recovery Initiative and funding from the American Rescue Plan. Through this program, we were able to help small businesses, not-for-profits, and civic organizations with over $8 million of funding. At the beginning of this year 2024, I was transferred to the Landfill Department to begin the CLEAN Program, a townwide initiative to protect our environment and remove litter from our downtowns, to increase quality of life.

Now I am asking for your vote for Farmingdale School Board. As a third-generation Daler, recent Farmingdale graduate, and frequent contributor to the community I want to dedicate my drive and ideals to keep our school district successful.
